The smoke from your cigarette was the only thing clouding my vision that night. I was running on empty - lost on a winding road somewhere in between nostalgia and a fear for what was next. It had all began so suddenly, but how were we supposed to know when it was over?

You are brilliant. your heart is bigger than the moon and the stars. The galaxy. Everything in between is the pulse that pulls you to your next breath. You are worthy. seen, heard, believed in. Loved. In a million different worlds, in a million different ways. By thousands of hearts. The days you feel otherwise, don't look inward. it's not your doing. It's theirs. Some people can't look at things for too long that shine too brightly. some are blinded all together, running. Whatever you do, don't look inward. Don't dim yourself for those who see you as too bright. Too much. Not enough. You're enough, more than enough. & you've always been. Your purpose is yours. not theirs. and especially not theirs to keep. You are the vast heart that keeps on beating. Through joy and wonder. But also, Through strife. Through hurt, through heartbreak. You are more than a fleeting feeling. You are yours. You are brilliant.

Sometimes life gets heavy. All of the burdens and hardships that weigh on your conscious become something like the weight of a thousand boulders crashing down on you. It's so easy to feel like you're not in control. Like everything that is happening is due to some outstanding circumstance that we have no delegation over after the matter.
It's so easy to forget that all you have to do is let go. Let go of whatever it is that weighs on your conscious, and remember that while it may have been significant at one point, that does not mean that it must remain as such.
Not everything is meant to be permanent, yet we have this idea that we're never supposed to forget.
Something's are meant to be forgotten, and some things are meant to be left behind.
Sometimes, we have to remind ourselves that the past is the past, and not everything is meant to be carried forward into our future. We must let go in order to make room for more - more laughter, more joy, and more life.
If we don't make room for the new, we will always be haunted by the feeling of overwhelmingness when something beautiful enters our lives - rather than the simple feeling of goodness. With the feeling of overwhelmingness comes the false conception of uncertainty and doubt; when in reality, whatever has presented itself could be something so unimaginably great.
You just have to remember to let go.
Take a deep breath, and let go.

Happiness is not something that one can so effortlessly achieve. It won't fall into your lap as you sit and hope for things to get better. It's not going to whisk you away at random, or when you're least expecting it. Happiness is a chosen attribute of life. You can hope and you can pray that things will get better, that tomorrow will be a little brighter, but the reality is this - unless you are choosing happiness every single day, you will not be happy.
You have to wake up every morning with the desire to fill any and all voids that you have within. You have to want. You have to build. You have to get up, and you have to try. No matter how mundane your life may feel, or how impossible a day may seem, it is you - and only you - that can make a positive change.
You don't like your job? Search for a new one until you are satisfied. Not happy with your body? Work toward building a better you. You have to strive - endlessly and relentlessly, you have to strive. No one is going to wave a magical wand over your head, turning you into a princess in a beautiful ball gown, and no one is going to hand you the extravagant life you've always dreamt of. It is completely and utterly in your hands to make of this life what you will.
Humans tend to hold a false notion that it's too late for them. That opportunity has already passed them by, and there's no use in forcing their energy upon something that they "could never achieve." We have become our own limitation. We shackle ourselves to the idea that we weren't made for something better, when the truth of the matter is - there is always something better.
Don't settle. Don't lose your motivation and ambition because you had a bad day, bad month, or even a bad year. Don't let your life fall victim to the comfortability of contentment. If you feel nostalgic for the unknown, then search until you've found what it is your heart yearns for. Look high and low, and don't stop until you're satisfied. Don't sit and wait for happiness to make its grand entrance. You have to choose it. Every single second of every single day, choose it.
Stop waiting for a better opportunity, a better moment, or a better chance. Being given LIFE is our biggest opportunity, our most precious moment, and our best chance - embrace the canvas you've been given, and by God, don't waste it.

I hope for a love that isn't based off of circumstance.
One that revolves around a mutual abundance of unconditional support, excitement, and endearment. I want a love that doesn't die when it's forced to face darkness and calamity; one that perseveres through life's ongoing obstacles, rather than succumbing to the ever so easy route of giving up.
I admire a love that can overcome uncertainties and doubts. A love that is so passionate and forgiving that it succeeds through the endless, mundane cycle that life can sometimes be. Not a love that has been achieved, or reached for, but rather initial in its nature, and impossible to ignore.
A love so strong that it outweighs all logic, ideal, and rationale.
One that is upheld by the simplistic idea that the other person is worth all of your trouble and confusion -
they are the calm before every storm, the light at the end of every tunnel, and the easiness one hopes for when life becomes far too difficult. This is the love I hope for.

November 2016
Life will never stop putting you through trials. Every day that you wake up, you will be faced with a multitude of decisions, and you will have to make those decisions based off of your own judgement, beliefs, values, and ideology. These decisions can be as small as what you wear that day, or as big as taking on an opportunity that could alter your life significantly. There will never come a day where you will be able to wander effortlessly, without any regard for what's next.
As humans, we are constantly asking ourselves where one path might lead us, and more often than not, we find that we question whether or not we may have taken the wrong path. It's in our nature to assess every single step we take, and to decide on whether or not it was the direction we should have chose.
There are going to be days where you feel as though no decision you make is going to be the right one. There will be days where you've never been so sure of a decision in your life - & then there are going to be days where making a decision feels impossibly overwhelming - leaving you feeling lost, confused, and hopeless.
These decisions are our trials, and these trials contribute to the definition of who we are. Not every trial you endure will feel like a success, and on the other hand, not every trial you endure will feel like a failure. While these trials help to define us, it is pertinent to our well being to know that we are not completely and utterly defined by the individual, single decisions we make. What we do with the results of our decisions - how we perceive the outcome, how we react to it, and whether or not we emit change when necessary - is what defines us wholeheartedly.
When we are faced with adversity - a difficult moment, a challenging decision - it is important to recognize that our actions are not labeled as black or white. We are allowed to be unsure, we are allowed to be hesitant, we are allowed to feel lost. It is in these moments of uncertainty that we must remember that it is not how we react/decide that is significant, but how we react to our reactions/decisions.
What will you do to change the effects of a bad decision?
What will you do to make it through a certain situation with more grace than you did in the past?
Progression, positive change, effort - these are the aspects of these trials that matter. No matter what you are faced with, never stop fighting to do better than you've done in the past.
Hold your head higher, walk with more purpose, forgive more than you ever thought possible, love as though you have nothing to lose, and always hold the will to be stronger than you've ever been before.
